Established in 2006, the Department of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics at Lourdes Hospital provides evidence-based nutritional care for patients of all ages & conditions. 1. Nutritional Screening
A first step in identifying patients at risk of malnutrition or special dietary needs, our team screens all inpatients & outpatients to detect issues early and ensure timely intervention.
2. Nutrition Assessment
A thorough evaluation of dietary history, body measurements, lab results & clinical data to assess nutritional status and create a personalized diet plan.
3. Diet Planning
Based on the assessment, we create personalized meal plans that align with the patient’s medical needs, preferences & treatment goals – covering both preventive and therapeutic diets.
4. Therapeutic Dietary Modification
Specialized diets are designed to support the treatment of various medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, renal disorders, gastrointestinal problems & more. We also provide dietary support for patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, or intensive care.
5. Patient Diet Service
The department provides timely, hygienically prepared meals to inpatients, tailored to their dietary needs & supervised by the dietetic team for quality and nutrition.
6. Diet Consultation
Our dietitians offer one-on-one consultations for both inpatients & outpatients, addressing a wide range of concerns including weight management, lifestyle diseases, food allergies, pediatric nutrition, and geriatric nutrition.
7. Follow-up Activities
Post-discharge dietary follow-up is an integral part of our service. We provide continuous support and guidance to help patients stay on track with their nutritional goals, ensuring long term health and recovery.
We also provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for specialties including:
• Customized Nutrition Care Plans (NCPs) for critical care, gynecology, pediatrics & bariatrics
• Therapeutic Diet Services tailored to individual patient needs
• Teaching & CNE Programs for continuous professional development
The department is staffed by a dedicated team comprising 1 Chief Dietitian, 7 Assistant Dietitians, 2 Diet Clerks & 20 Diet Service Staff, all working collaboratively to deliver high-quality nutrition care
