Each year, the third week of October is dedicated to infection prevention and control, and celebrated as Infection Prevention Week across the nations.
The Department of Quality Systems, Lourdes Hospital celebrated Infection Prevention Week 2018 from October 14 - 20, 2018. As a part of the celebrations, an awareness, poster regarding the importance of week was displayed in the hospital intranet and official information groups. Different competitions were also conducted including quiz competition and poster competition. Preliminary quiz competition was attended by 9 zones on 23.10.2018 and among them 5 groups were selected for final competition.
The main function of Infection Prevention Week celebration was on 23.10.2016. The ceremony started at 2.30 pm. The theme of the year "Protecting patients everywhere" was unveiled. Final quiz competition with emphasis on infection control, was conducted among selected 5 groups.
Best posters were selected according to the theme and preset criteria. Best units were selected according to the infection control practices following there which is observed during daily audits and with the help of knowledge experts from BD company.

On 14th November 2018, as a part of world diabetic day celebration, third year pharm d students from st Joseph's college of pharmacy performed a skit based on diabetes awareness and distributed leaflet regarding the diabetic information and food habits for the public.
In connection with the Antibiotic awareness week celebrations by the World Health Organization, we celebrated the same from November 19 to 24 in our college (St Josephs college of pharmacy). Our fourth year pharm d students performed a skit based on antibiotic awareness in Lourdes hospital on 23 rd November 2018, and they delivered talk about the antibiotics and its resistance to make the public aware about it. We distributed antibiotic leaflet to the audience for providing proper antibiotic usage information.
