Dietetics is the science of applying nutritional principles to the planning and preparation of foods and regulation of diets in relation to both health and disease.

The Dept. of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Lourdes Hospital, was established in the year 2006. The department is committed to cater to the normal and therapeutic nutritional needs of patients by providing services like:

  • Nutritional screening
  • Nurtrition assesssment
  • Diet planning
  • Therapeutic dietary modification
  • Patient diet service
  • Diet consultation
  • Follow up activities

The key areas of specialisation include:

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)
  • Specific NCP (Nutrition Care Plan) to critical care/ gynaec/ pediatric/ bariatric patients.
  • Patient diet service based on therapeutic modification
  • Teaching & CNE (Continuing Nutrition Education) programs
  • The department is constituted with 1 Chief Dietitian, 7 Assistant Dietitians, 2 Diet clerks and 20 Diet service staff.
